CBS offers a 5-year Integrated M.Sc. Programme in basic sciences after 10+2 schooling or its equivalent. The Centre will offer courses in mathematics, physics, chemistry, and life sciences, and CBS students, upon graduation, will be awarded the M.Sc degree in one of the four subjects. The programme will have a balanced semester-based course structure with continuous assessment of students within a flexible, seamless curriculum that emphasizes the interdisciplinary nature of science in the 21st century and promotes exploration, innovation and research, in keeping with one of the Centre's mandates which is to help develop a pool of talented and motivated scientific personnel for the national research and development programmes pursued by the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India.

The Centre follows a Semester system with the first semester from 1st August to 30th November and the second from 1st January to 30th April with the months of December and May-July as vacations in which students are encouraged to pursue projects at research institutes and laboratories in the country. The curriculum is broad based and includes courses like World literature, Communication skills, Earth sciences, History of Science and so on. In future we may plan to offer an art related or a language course. Such an approach, we expect, will encourage inter-disciplinary forays.
