ADMISSIONS 2019-2020

There are a couple of vacancies in General category. Students with General Category between 351 to 500 are requested to send their NEST Score Card to by 1600 hrs on 8th August 2019. Admission will be offered to students based on merit-ranking. Students who had submitted details earlier through Google form also must send the NEST Score Card.

Students whose rank is between ST-16 and the last eligible rank for UM-DAE CEBS are requested to apply using the Google form before 12 noon on 19th July 2019

EWS(General Category)

All General Category students below the Merit Rank of 350 with valid EWS Certificate are requested to apply using the Google form before 12 noon on 19th July 2019

Students who had registered earlier need not register again.

Mails have been sent to all students who registered seeking admission to UM-DAE CEBS through NEST.

Please note that only those students who have received the mail should report at CEBS on 12th July 2019. In the first round, we have called registered students as under:

OBC Category - rank upto OB-60
SC Category - rank upto SC50
ST Category - rank upto ST 15
PwD Candidates - rank upto PwD 10
All J&K Category students

Registered students who do not report at CEBS on 12th July will not be waitlisted, if there is a second/subsequent round of admission.


Consequent on the implementation of EWS in General Category, the number of students to be admitted in CEBS under NEST is as follows:

General Category students seeking admission under EWS are requested to bring the following documents in addition to what has been mentioned in the email sent.

Income and Asset Certificate in the specified format (See Annexure-1). The I&A certificate issued by any of the following officials only will be treated as valid:

  1. District Magistrate/Additional District Magistrate/ Collector/ Deputy Commissioner/Additional' Deputy Commissioner/ 1st Class Stipendary Magistrate/ Sub-Divisional Magistrate/ Taluka Magistrate! Executive Magistrate/ Extra Assistant Commissioner
  2. Chief Presidency Magistrate/Additional Chief Presidency Magistrate/Presidency Magistrate
  3. Revenue Officer not below the rank of Tehsildar and
  4. Sub-Divisional Officer or the area where the candidate and/or his family normally resides.

In the first round of admission, the following students will be called for admission

General Category - students with a merit rank of upto 350

OBC Category - students with OBC rank upto 60

SC Category - students with SC rank upto 50

ST Category - students with ST rank upto 15

PwD candidates with PWD rank upto 10

All those interested in seeking admission to CEBS are requested to register your details here.  Please note that registration is mandatory. Last date of registration is 5th July 13.00 hrs.

The admission process will be on Friday, 12 July 2019, and students will be required to reach the Green Technology Auditorium, University of Mumbai, Vidyanagari, Kalina Campus, Mumbai 400098.  Registration of students is from 0730 hrs to 1000 hrs. Admission will start at around 1030 hrs.Only students who register for admission as mentioned above, will be called for counselling/admission.

Only students who were present on 12th July at CEBS but could not get admission will automatically be waitlisted for the second round of admission, if any.  Those who were called for conselling but did not turn up will NOT be considered for waitlisting.

CEBS was set up by the Department of Atomic Energy and the University of Mumbai in 2007. CEBS offers a 5 year integrated MSc program in Basic Sciences, with undergraduate teaching embedded in a postgraduate and research environment, for students who have completed 10+2 schooling or its equivalent.
