Inventa Science Magazine

Inventa

Inventa Science Magazine was introduced as an Inter-college science magazine which was jointly published by the 7 IISERs, IISc, NISER, and CEBS in the year 2020 but today its reach is quite wide-spread. The latest edition 'Inventa 23’ was released on 26th December 2023, the glorious day in the history of science and technology, the day when Madam Curie discovered the element Radium (Ra). The day is a landmark when science took a leap towards the treatment of diseases like cancer. This edition of Inventa was not only limited to the 10 premier science institutes in India but emerging science writers from other institutes throughout the country also contributed with their exceptional articles. The broad theme of the magazine was chosen to be “Beauty of Nature through the Lenses of Science” along with thoughts such as “Diversifying Science”, “Interdisciplinary Marvels”, “Navigating the Shadows” and “Art meet Science”.

The magazine was overseen by a distinguished board of Managing Editors (MEs), chosen from each institute. Prajna Shubhranshu Mahakur from Quanta 14 heldInventa_2 the position of Managing Editor and was also a member of the Organizing Committee (OCs), lending expertise and contributing significantly to the magazine's success. The Editorial team of CEBS consisted of Naman Mishra (Q13), Paritosh Singh (Q13), Rajat Kumar (Q13), Ananya Sachdev(Q13), Anirudh Rameshan (Q14), P.S. Abhijjith Sankar (Q15), Dhiyanesh Gowrisankar (Q15) and Jasleen Kaur (Q15). The social media was handled by Ridima Srivastava (Q14). After that, the designers made the magazine look great with appealing visuals. We were guided by the Convener of our Students’ Advisory Committee (SAC) and Coordinator of Students Affairs, Prof. Ameeya Bhagwat.

The list of articles by CEBS students and faculty published this year, is given below:

  1. The Socioeconomic Effect of Insulin price gouging on an Indian family by Neel Gajjar and Anshika Awasthi (Q15).
  2. Eclipses: An Indian Perspective by A. R. Bathrinarayanan (Q15).
  3. AI Designed Living Robots by Ujjwal Agrawal, Prachi Tripathy and Aishwarya Bhushan (Q16).
  4. Outstretching Science to Common People through an Interdisciplinary Approach (Interview Article with Mr. Aniket Sule) By Saharsh Shanu

The main purpose of the magazine is to tell common people about the miracles of science and technology. In the future, we plan to make the magazine available for high school students and our local communities. We also want to bring out more editions of the magazine to help people understand and talk more about science in our society.
